We caught up with Giovanna, Store Manager at Ollie’s Place, to learn more about her love for the store, the centre, and the customers she sees every day.

How long have you been at Waverley Gardens, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I’ve been with Ollie’s Place for five years, and at Waverley Gardens for just under three. I really enjoy working in a smaller shopping centre—it feels more personal. Plus, I’m lucky to have such a supportive team. I’m here Tuesday through Saturday, and every day brings something new.

Do you have local customers you know by name?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our regulars stop by just to say hello, even if they’re not shopping. They wave as they walk past, and if I’m not in, they’ll ask after me. It’s lovely to be a familiar face in the community.

What’s your favourite time of year at the centre?

Christmas is my favourite—it’s busy, festive, and full of good vibes. Everyone’s in such a cheerful mood. I also enjoy Easter, when families are out together and the centre feels alive with activity.

What are your interests outside of work?

I’m a huge Elvis Presley fan and love going to concerts and theatre shows. Recently, I became a grandmother, which has been such a joy. I spend as much time as I can with my granddaughter and family, it’s the most rewarding part of my life.

What makes Ollie’s Place products unique?
